The US Air Force is trying to figure out how to deal with civilian contractors who have their “heads in the clouds,” thanks to SpaceX head Elon Musk and a little bit of marijuana.
Musk recently raised some uniformed eyebrows after he smoked marijuana on a live-cast video, a big no-no for anyone with a government security clearance.
As CEO of SpaceX, it is unknown is Musk actually possesses a security clearance, but it’s a matter the Air Force is willing to invest time and money into figuring out.
An Air Force spokesperson, in a statement to CNBC, said: “We will need time to determine the facts and the appropriate process to handle the situation.”
Musk’s marijuana consumption took place on Joe Rogan’s podcast- an incident that temporarily dunked Tesla’s stock value by about 9 percent, though the company has since begun making a recovery.
Sources familiar with the incident claim that the USAF is opening an investigation.
