The commander of the 317th Maintenance Squadron in Texas has been relieved of command as of Monday morning, according to Dyess Air Force Base officials.

Lt. Col. Pete Leija was relieved due to an ongoing investigation by the 7th Security Forces Squadron, as well as a “loss of confidence” by 317th Airlift Wing Commander Colonel Jeffrey Menasco.

According to the Air Force Times, Dyess officials are tight-lipped as to the nature of Leija’s alleged infractions.

Lt. Col. Jonathan Izworski, the deputy commander of the 317th Maintenance Group, will take over until a more permanent commander can be assigned.

Leija is an 18-year USAF veteran, wand previously served in Japan.
